Vegetable Weapons

The coffee’s on
The door it sits unlocked
A body’s on
The stairs stepping through some unknown song
Everything is
Where it ought to be
Even though I’m
Out of place in this foggy scene
Cups in hand
Elbows resting on the rusting rails
Scanning nothing
Just to see what nothing entails
Most of these words
Will fall into the grass below
Vegetable weapons
Planted under grounds we’ll never know
You are stepping aside so I can see again
You are stepping outside of temperature and light
And all the sides/signs are washed away
By solemn steps that cannot wait
“I’ll see if I can make time before you go”
“I’ll see if I can make time before you go”
A relative loss
Our vegetable weapons laid to rest
The bodies remain
But always know what’s coming next
& I’m still waiting
Lost inside the choices left to rot
My fate to envy
Those fading coffee contemplations
You are stepping aside so I can see again
You are stepping outside of temperature and light
And all the sides/signs are washed away
By solemn steps that cannot wait
“I’ll see if I can make time before you go”
“I’ll see if I can make time before you go”

Fall Awake

You can leave when I tell you
Breathe only when it is approved
Believe that God can see through
Every thought and spark and move
This is the new regime
Founded on the lack of real dreams
All you feel is moral casing
An alternate scene
No concern for strong opinion
No knowledge of our dominion
That was unjustly given
To an unjust parody
A higher seat I’ve taken
Not sure why it was left vacant
For questions it is too late
This is the new regime
I’ve waited for something with weight
As the day draws near I feel I fall awake
I welcome your protests
From your cell where you cannot rest
You’re hiding under bruises
Art forms dying useless
You’ve a plan for my life at death
An objective too weak to last
I will dangle keys before you
And laugh at your folded hands
Our aggression floats above us
Pushing down and pulling forward
But we’ll sweep it from the table
To instill this new regime
No higher seat is needed
To admit we’ve been defeated
The words get stuck between us
As we fall back to ascend
I’ve waited for something with weight
As the day draws near I feel I fall awake

Your Stare

Walking behind you
Has scared away the rain
But I wouldn’t expect less
Your hair your skin your
Perfume finds me
A soft place to rest
I’m so tired I‘ve been here
Patience on a monument
That’s so me
What else do I have here?
Well what else do you need?
Your greed is lovely
So I sit, I wait
And nothings changes here
Just the clothes you wear
As your tastes change so
Does my atmosphere
My eyes long for your stare
Distance is laughing at
My every wish
It’s time I lived for me
I’m busy setting
The scene where you will see
What it is you really need
It might hurt at first
But trust would do you well
To see me happy
Even doves tied to the cage
Grow to see everything
In a new way
There’s no more waiting
Everything changes here
Except the clothes you wear
As my tastes change so
Does your atmosphere
My eyes melt from your stare
There’s no more waiting
Everything changes here
Except the clothes you wear
As my tastes change so
Does your atmosphere
‘Cause you ain’t goin’ nowhere

The Good Kind

We lived between blank stares
And wordless compromise
And the good kind of freezing
The good kind of lies
I followed your foot steps
When you left the show
But they lead back to me
The only path you know
I’ve stayed inside
And everything’s just fine
Don’t draw another
To draw me outside
And when I know
That everything is old
I’ll write the end for
A story never told
And when you notice
That I have left the show
The good kind of hate
Is the only kind you’ll know

Sympathy

I’m not looking for sympathy
Just somewhere to look
If you see me walking the wrong way please don’t
Change my route
I’m sure you gathered there again
I’m sure the subject came up
I know it just belongs inside my head
But I wonder if I’m wrong
What if I’m right about what’s wrong?
What if I’m right all the time?
What if nothing is always something and I’m trapped
In this song?
I just realized I don’t
Have any options left
And my connections have faltered, fall down
Don’t think that I’ll forget
Clicking, tempo, beats, timing
Clicking-time all as one sign
Measure the distance between my worth and your
Skill, life, and time
